ARLINGTON NORTH ROTARY SUPPORTS ITS PROGRAMS THROUGH AN ANNUAL FLAG SUBSCRIPTION PROGRAM

For over 15 years, Arlington North Rotary major (and only) fundraiser has been to put a 3' x 5' American Flag into the yard of North Arlington residents who subscribe to the program.

Subscribers pay $36 per year to have the flag displayed in their yard on Memorial Day, Flag Day (June 14th), Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day.

With nearly 800 subscribers, the revenue generated allows the club to support it's programs throughout the year.

The flags are stored in an old ocean going container at the Lamar High School Campus on 4 carts.  Each cart can hold nearly 250 flags.  The carts weigh 1,200-1,500 pounds each when full.

A dehumifier is used to make sure the flags are dry - and checked every few days for a few weeks after each flag display.

The 4 carts are dispersed in a POD system so that 3-4 vehicles can back up and load the flags.  Our best record is everyone in and out in less than 20 minutes.

2-3 people are assigned to each of our 14 routes to put out the flags.  Route sheets are prepared in advance so that the members know which address a flag is to be put out at.  Pictured here are Adnan Bahar and Ali Raza.

Our 14 routes go from just west of 360, along Green Oaks to the north and Lamar/Randol Mill and Division to the West and South.  Our subscribers live in 76006, 76010, 76011 and 76012 zip codes.  Route sizes run from 35 to just over 90 flags.
